Good morning, Ithaca

There's been a regime change!

Ezra is out, Elliot is in! Hi! Isn't it a beautiful morning.

The curmudgeon is gone! His regime of gloom goes with him. The culture of complaint that the old gripemeister created on this blogspot is now history. Right now technicians are working to change the name of the blog to Ithaca is Gorgeous.

What's has he been talking about all this time? Ithaca is a great place to live. Folks living together in harmony in the middle of an incredible natural paradise. We have parks, schools, libraries, theaters, bookstores, an unbelievable variety of things to do every weekend.

And then there's the Ithaca Festival, the Great Chili Off, the Apple Harvest Festival. Did Elliot fail to mention the Farmer's Market, the ScienceCenter, PRI, concerts in the park. Tons of shopping opportunities - now that a few dour anti-growth people have been outvoted on the issue of big box stores coming to Ithaca. Thanks, Mayor Cohen! What was the problem?

Mostly, Ithaca is all about diversity - in the people who live here, in the things they do, in how they have fun. There's something for ever lifestyle. And do you know what's great about it? Everybody gets along in Ithaca! Go into Center Ithaca and find all different kinds of people enjoying conversation and tasty treats under a big spacious canopy. This is the real heart of Ithaca, a thriving community with a unique vision for the future.

Soon there will be new hotels, new businesses, a new look downtown. Right now the City is installing new lights to make downtown brighter, safer and more welcoming.
Already there are so many wonderful shops and restaurants on the Commons. Every kind of food, every type of merchandise to suit every taste! You can eat Chinese one night, Thai the next, move westward on the global taste map to Mexican, Italian, Spanish and French. Plus a fabulous selection of vegetarian fare! Moosewood is world famous for its tasty, cruelty-free cuisine.

And music! There's every kind of music imaginable in Ithaca for people to enjoy. Almost every night of the week! From folksinging to blue grass to classic rock to cutting edge metal. Young and old, finding ways to have a good time!

Ithaca's weather doesn't always cooperate. Look out the window! Do Ithacans get depressed about a little snow the week after the official start of Spring? No way, Jose! Ithacans take the weather in stride, knowing full well that nothing in life is perfect! Why complain about something you can't change?

Talk about educational opportunities! Ithaca has three colleges! How many small towns can boast a major university, a fine private college and a booming community college? Cornell and Ithaca College bring thousands of students from all over the world to Ithaca to lend their diverse voices to our local barbershop choir. Our schools contribute a lot to the community. They boost the economy, provide jobs and a wealth of cultural opportunities for Ithaca residents in addition to bringing prestigious guests and visitors from all over the world to our City. The schools here, however, are only a part of the marvelous, multi-cultural, multi-faceted tapestry that is Ithaca. We are indeed a creative , engaged and engaging community!

APRIL FOOLS DAY!

FOOLED YOU, DIDN'T I? EZRA NEVER WENT AWAY FOR A MINUTE. MARCH LEFT WITH A ROAR, APRIL COMES IN WITH A BITE! STAY TUNED FOR MORE OF THE ALTERNATIVE TO THE ALTERNATIVES!
